Hello Again...
Sorry it’s been so long since I last wrote - I’ll try to be better in the future.
Things have been fairly busy here with school and my other military
responsibilities. I’m getting used to it now, though, so life doesn’t
seem as crazy as it once did.
I recently competed my first training stage - Apprentice Technical
Training (ATT) - and moved down the road to a new barracks (or ship as
we call it here) where I’ll live for up to 17 weeks during my ‘A’
School.
While ATT was focused on teaching us basic electronics - everything
from transistors to basic RADAR theory - ‘A’ School will be focused on
application. Here, I’ll be learning how to use and repair several
different communication and RADAR systems. The training here is pretty
much all done on computers - first a computer-taught lesson, then a
hands-on lab. I’m doing pretty well so far and hope to be able to
graduate with decent grades, especially since the person with the
highest GPA gets the first pick from the available orders.
I miss you all and hope all is well with you. In my next post I’ll
try to give a more detailed description of what life’s like for me here
- as you can probably imagine, it’s pretty different from the life I’m
accustomed to.
